The Accident and Emergency (A&E) Department at KHAMH, A'Ali, aims to meet the needs of patients with sudden, major, life-threatening illnesses and injuries.
A team of doctors and nurses would be available 24x7 to attend to adult and pediatric emergencies, by assessing and treating patients with serious injuries or illnesses.
The department is geared to receive medical illnesses including trauma; with adult and pediatric beds, a connected and advanced Radiology Unit/Imaging Centre, and an Ambulance Unit.
While 'urgent care' is available in other AMH facilities in the country, for Accidents and Emergencies, it is to KHAMH, A'Ali, that patients can be brought. Patients can be treated for, among other things,
- Loss of consciousness
- Acute confused state and fits that are not stopping
- Persistent, severe chest pain
- Breathing difficulties
- Severe bleeding that cannot be stopped
A&E Services available for
- Acute surgical conditions (e.g. acute abdominal pain / bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract)
- Medical emergencies (e.g. heart attack, stroke, severe asthma, pneumonia, shock, sepsis etc)
- Orthopaedic injuries
- Sports injuries
- Paediatric emergencies
- Acute ear, nose and throat (ENT) and eye emergencies
